Welcome to Studio Charles!
I’m Charlotte, a self-taught Belgian artist, mother, and creative spirit, splitting my time between Europe and New Zealand. I founded Studio Charles out of my deep passion for art, and the desire to build a space where I could create beautiful, personalised pieces—while also being present for my two young children.
Painting was a hobby that I practiced on and off over many years and after trying many different creative hobbies after my first son was born, it wasn’t until I was pregnant with my second son that I really started picking up my paintbrushes daily again, and it feels like I haven’t put them down since. Paint is a way to connect with the world around me. It’s through vibrant colors and dynamic forms that I find joy and inspiration. My creations are a reflection of the things that fill my heart with happiness: my children, the natural world around me, the beauty of travel, and the everyday moments that remind me of life’s simple pleasures. The positive feedback from family and friends was the push I needed to turn this passion project into a small business.
Whether it’s a family portrait, a custom birth announcement, or wedding stationery, my goal is to capture moments that not only bring joy to your heart, but become cherished memories that last a lifetime.
I believe in the power of art to inspire—whether it’s evoking a feeling of bliss or sparking a sense of wonder. Each piece is made with care, to bring joy and color into your life and home.
Fun facts about me:
I’m a proud mom to a 4-year-old and a tiny baby.
I juggle life between Europe, where I’m from, and New Zealand, where my husband is from.
We met in China, where we lived for 10 unforgettable years.
I thrive on creativity—painting, design, furniture restoration, upholstery, photography... I love it all!
While I sometimes dream of a minimalist lifestyle for peace of mind, I’m drawn to the beauty of color and the energy of a slightly chaotic life.
My pet peeves? Wriggling toes and the sound of chewing!
My dream destinations? India and Oman are next on my bucket list!
Thank you for being here and considering my art as part of your story. I hope my work brings a little more joy and a lot of color into your life.
